This year the Foundation’s focus is on awarding more scholarships or rewards for these deserving Bahamian students.

Bahama-Island Events

In September 1993 Outstanding Students in Bahamian High Schools was organized and founded by Fmr. Sen. T. RiCardo Whylly (President & CEO) and launched its first Awards Program. The program began its journey by honouring grades 10, 11 and 12 students who attained an accumulative grade point 3.00 average or above. In addition to academic achievements, students of the same grades were honoured for their athletic achievements.

These programs have become a part of the social calendar on these islands where parents, teachers and community leaders lend their full support to its continued success.

The work of the Bahamas Outstanding Students Foundation is one of the many ways in which our students are continually encouraged in their pursuit of excellence and I am pleased to be part of this positive event in the life’s of our students and this community.

Students are awarded based on the authorized approval of the School’s Senior Officials (Principal or Guidance Counsellor) and not on any other competitive forum. The Awards Program is held annually in New Providence as well as many of the Family Islands including Andros, Eleuthera, Long Island, Abaco and Grand Bahama

Each year the Awards Program is held under the patronage of the sitting Governor General. To date, we have been honoured to have their Excellencies Sir Orville Turnquest, Dame Ivy Dumont, The Hon. Arthur D. Hanna, and Sir Arthur A. Foulkes serve as the National Patrons. The annual Awards Programs is held under the theme ‘Keep Your Eyes on the Prize’.
